SGHC wins close contest

SGHC travelled to Reading for what proved to be a close match.
Despite dominating most of the first half, SGHC efforts on goal were limited to half chances and were thwarted by a resolute Reading defence.
Reading took the lead following a well executed short corner after only 6mins.
SGHC continued to press with much ball possession but limited goal threat. It wasn't until the 34th min that SGHC got their first short corner. With Jaskarran Kooner injecting to Hanish Daggar, who struck a sweet drive into the reading net to equalise and ease the pressure on SGHC.
SGHC were welcomed the half time break and the chance to re-group and take stock of a poor 1st half.

SGHC Chairman, Mr. Kuljit Bhachu's focused and powerful halftime team talk energized the team, driving their improved performance in the second half.

2nd half saw SGHC playing a more positive and structured game with the Midfield trio of Apinder Singh, Hanish Daggar and Veer Patel starting to dominate the pace of the game. The pressure paid dividends as a another short was converted by Gurdip Benawra following a composed passing exchange with Jassi Benawra at the top of the Reading penalty area.
Reading pressed for an equaliser but were restricted to half chances by a fine performance by the SGHC defensive unit.
SGHC stayed top of Div 1 with the close hard fought win, but were happier of the two teams to hear the final whistle.
SGHC host Eastcote next week at their Herschel school pitch.
