Stoke Green Hockey Club

The 44th Maidenhead Veterans Tournament proved to be a memorable event for the Stoke Green Hockey Club, showcasing their talent, discipline, and sportsmanship. The tournament, held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Maidenhead, featured veteran teams from across the region, including renowned sides from Germany and Holland.

Stoke Green HC's performance was nothing short of exceptional. Competing against international teams, the club received high praise for their skilful play and disciplined approach. Both the German and Dutch teams expressed their admiration for Stoke Green HC, commending them as one of the most skilled and disciplined teams they had encountered.

Organizers of the tournament also lauded Stoke Green HC for their outstanding participation and sportsmanship throughout the event and acknowledged the club's contribution to the tournament's success and the positive atmosphere they helped create.

Representing Stoke Green HC were several key club members: Club President Kuljit Bhachu, Club Captain Apinder Singh, Club Official Asghar Khan, Treasurer Rajesh Sharma, Club Secretary Surjeet Panwar, Fixture Secretary Gagandeep Singh, Club Official Harwarinder Singh Athwal, Club Official Ashok Kumar Chauhan and Pitch Admin Veer Patel. They were joined by senior players Satty Benawra, Jassi Benawra, Sardara Dhoot, and goalkeepers Francis Joanes and  Adnan Ghaffar.

Amandeep Singh, Club Official and Web Admin, highlighted the significance of the tournament for Stoke Green HC. "It was a fantastic opportunity for our players to represent  Stoke Green HC, socialize, compete at a high level and to foster international camaraderie. The feedback from our opponents and organizers has been incredibly encouraging."

Founded in 2018, Stoke Green Hockey Club has quickly risen to prominence as one of Slough's top community hockey clubs. Affiliated with England Hockey, the club boasts a diverse membership that includes both senior and junior players. Supported by a dedicated team of coaches, officials, and committee members, Stoke Green HC welcomes new players—both experienced and beginners—as well as social members throughout the year.

The club's recent achievements include being crowned champions in Men's Thames Division 2 for the 2022-23 season, which secured their promotion to Men's Thames Division 1 for the 2023-24 season. This success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the club's players and staff.
